Kakabeka Falls and the mountain portage- Thunder bay Canada

Pictures of the Grand Portage restoration USA.  This place changed hands after the Louisiana Purchase and the British then moved up to the new Fort William Post.  This original place had been a place of congenial commerce among the Ojibway(Chippewa), French-Canadian voyageurs and the British for over 200 years.  They just disassembled the whole fort and moved to the new boundary on the Pigeon River.

We stoppped at Grand Marais after church had lunch, and collected agates on the shore.   then

Sunday service @ Zoar Lutheran,Pastor Doborah Lunde taught from the Book of Acts.  When we talked after I mentioned that I had just

finished Acts with BSF and she was curious as to how it was taught.  She found it interesting that we used it as a historical timeline to cover the epistles.  This small congregation broke off two years ago from ELCA, I believe she said.

Day 22 (June 30th) Lake Superior, visit Split Rock Lighthouse, Silver Bay

Today we travelled south to Silver Bay and the Split Rock Lighthouse.  I had planned to get a shot of the little miner by the Silver Bay sign and this great little car just happened to show up as we we driving by.

Day 21 Temperance River State Park, Lake Superior, Grand Marais MN

Today we started with a big breakfast.  I used the cast iron waffle iron for the first time.   It works great on the Coleman. Bob and Mattea swam at the mouth of the Temperance River as it empties into  Lake.  Very dark water with lots of minerals.  I went to Toftes cafe to try to get some time on the blog.

We are missing family and friends but look forward the next place.  Each area has a beauty of its own and we feel so very blessed to be able to see our beautiful country.
