Mattea loved the trees in her own "forest" area behind the hedge.
Bob surprised a family of Great Horned Owls living near the grandstand in the trees.
We found two big nests, collected owl pellets and a few feathers.
Also saw a doe and a ring-necked pheasant.

Fort Benton, Montana
This was the main "road" into the Northwest and Canada for freight before railroads.
Boats came up to Fort Benton, then headed over land on the Mullan Trail or North into Canada.
Conrad brothers got their start here. Read about it in Half Interest in a Silver Dollar.
More the 75% of all the supplies came through here.
Wonderful museums, walk/bike trail along the river, beautifully restored Grand Union Hotel.
Fort Benton is the oldest continuously occupied town in the state.
Sweet story of a dog named Shep with statue to his devotion to his master in the park downtown.
We rode 3-4 miles around town with Mattea on the second day here.
Bob and Mattea crossed the bridge to observe Canada geese and goslings while I got a T shot.
We have a few bumps and bruises from forgetting where the doors and beds in Lucy are situated.
Most of the packing and loading has been simplified and we are getting into a routine.

Day 2
Left Choteau after Church at New Life (AG) with Pastor Mike.
Great message from the Word.
Drove by Freezeout Bird Refuge.
Goal is not to use the Interstate but only backroads.
Thanks Barb for the tip on this campground in Fort Benton.
Canoe Camp is in the middle of the county fairgrounds with nice showers and bathrooms.
We had horses in a corral to the left and Mattea feed them carrot peelings.
Saw a pair of Mourning Doves courting with lots of bowing back and forth on our walk by the river.
