Fort Benton, Montana

This was the main "road" into the Northwest and Canada for freight before railroads.

Boats came up to Fort Benton, then headed  over land on the Mullan Trail or North into Canada.

Conrad brothers got their start here.  Read about it in Half Interest in a Silver Dollar.

More the 75% of all the supplies came through here.

Wonderful museums, walk/bike trail along the river, beautifully restored Grand Union Hotel.

Fort Benton is the oldest continuously occupied town in the state.

Sweet story of a dog named Shep with statue to his devotion to his master in the park downtown.

We rode 3-4 miles around town with Mattea on the second day here.

Bob and Mattea crossed the bridge to observe Canada geese and goslings while I got  a T shot.

We have a few bumps and bruises from forgetting where the doors and beds in Lucy are situated.

Most of the packing and loading has been simplified and we are getting into a routine.
